Chobani, Commerce Chenango team up for 5K Run-Walk

NORWICH – It’s not too late to register for the inaugural Chobani Chamber Challenge 5k Run/Walk, according to event coordinators, which will step off at 10 a.m. Saturday from West Park.

According to Jill Eddy, who heads up Commerce Chenango’s programs and special events, those interested in participating still have an opportunity to do so, through 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. The goal? To raise money for scholarships that will benefit Chenango County students.

Registration, she added, is $20 for students, 18 and younger, and $25 for adults.

“It’s very important,” said Eddy of the scholarship money the chamber hopes to raise. “One of the biggest concerns our members have is that we can’t retain the youth in Chenango County. Hopefully they appreciate where [the money] is coming from and consider returning to the area after graduating college.”
