Oxford bridge opening delayed

OXFORD – The date for the completion of Oxford’s Main Street Bridge as been pushed back due to construction delays. The project’s construction manager is no longer willing to give any estimated date for the completion of the bridge. The Cortland-based Economy Paving Corporation has run into problems getting the right people on site at the right time, resulting in the delay, said Village Mayor Terry Stark. The contract with Economy Paving Corp. does not require them to be done until the end of November. The company is making a concerted effort to wrap up construction as soon as possible, Stark said. Next week, if the weather allows, construction workers will begin pouring and paving.
