DiStefano announces endorsement from Stein
NORWICH – Diane DiStefano, Democratic Candidate for Chenango County Judge, announced she has received the endorsement of Irene Stein, Chairwoman of the Tompkins County Democratic Committee.
“It is always flattering to receive the support of one of the Southern Tier’s strong leaders,” said DiStefano, “Chairwoman Stein is a strong advocate for our working families and I am proud to consider her a friend.”
Stein, who also serves as chair of the New York State Democratic Rural Conference, a member of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Advisory Committee on Aging, and is a former Member of the Democratic National Committee, has led the Tompkins County Democrats since March, 2011.
“I am always pleased to support such a strong and qualified judicial candidate as Diane DiStefano,” said Stein. “Diane has been a lifelong advocate for justice. From being elected at age 23 one of the youngest elected jurists in New York State to her successful career in private practice, Diane has shown a strong passion for the law the people of Chenango County deserve. I am proud to support this Diane DiStefano, a dependable and decisive leader who will be an asset to the bench.”
DiStefano first became interested in law while serving as Guilford Town Justice at 23 years old, making her the only candidate with prior judicial experience. She is a graduate of the University of Binghamton and Albany Law School. She is currently a partner at the Norwich law office of Vitanza, DiStefano & Dean, LLP, and since 2006 she has served as an assistant public defender for Chenango County. She is a member of the New York State Magistrate’s Association, the New York State Bar Association and the Chenango County Bar Association.
