The Grand Slambovians are a 6OTS Grand Slam Friday

OXFORD – Tonight, at 7:30 p.m., 6 On The Square (6OTS) is proud to present The Grand Slambovians! Singled out as Hudson Valley Magazine’s “Band of the Year.” On stage, Gandalf Murphy creates an enchanting atmosphere, using traditional folk instruments, tasty electric guitar and distinctive singing and songwriting. Hopefully you made your reservations already.
The Grand Slambovians aka Gandalf Murphy and The Slambovian Circus of Dreams’ music has elements of Incredible String Band, Neil Young, The Band, Dylan, and maybe even some Frank Zappa as well. Upon returning recently from the U.K. this fall where they spread their contagious brand of quirky Americana from Glasgow to Penzance, the band completed work on their fourth studio album, “The Grand Slambovians.” The advent of “The Grand Slambovians” is both the band’s latest reincarnation and the title of their new soul stirring CD.
“These are great songs, captured in a chaotic, unstoppable and barely describable landslide of an album.” Acoustic Magazine June 2011
In 1998 The Circus emerged from the misty hills of Sleepy Hollow, NY, and exploded upon the Hudson Valley music scene with their stunning self-produced debut release, “A Good Thief Tips His Hat.” The quirky quartet then began touring throughout the northeast and rapidly developed a fiercely loyal, all-ages following.
“They may term it ‘Hillbilly-Pink Floyd’ and sure, they have an air of both Floyd and maybe Bowie at times, atop their folk-country roots (note, not fauxcountry) but it’s done with a warmth and comfort of a mystical Nebraska or poetic Crazy Horse.” – Sleazegrinder, UK
