GREENE – Greene moved into the Section IV Class C semifinals scoring the game’s final three goals in Friday’s victory over Trumansburg.
Down 1-0 early on, Alex Leone countered for Greene (15-2) with a pair of goals, and Kurt Bartholomew added the third goal.
The Trojans host Seton Catholic Central Tuesday. The Saints beat Unatego in overtime, 1-0.

CAZENOVIA – Down a pair of key players in the middle of the field due to injury, Sherburne-Earlville found itself on the defensive end in much of Friday’s Section III Class B loss to Cazenovia Friday.
Kevin Porter scored for the Lakers 22 minutes into the game, the only tally his team would need. “It’s just one of those tough things, and I wish we had our guys healthy enough to play,” said S-E coach Mike Rodriguez, who had to replace starters Elijah Morris at center mid and Brady Elderkin at stopper. “With those two not able to play, it leaves a big hole in our team.”
Rodriguez was heartened by his team’s midseason play after starting 3-3-1. At one point, the Marauders (11-5-2) lost just one game over a nine-game stretch. “Once we were healthy, we really started to jell and had good chemistry,” Rodriguez said.

OTEGO – Unbeaten Unatego built a 4-0 lead, and advanced in the Section IV Class C playoffs Friday against Greene (11-7).
Sarah Mannina and Courtney Bulles had two goals apiece for the well balanced Spartans (17-0-1).
Paige Wilcox scored twice in the second half for Greene. Combined with her five goals in a sectional playoff win earlier last week, Wilcox, a junior, finishes the season with 44 goals and has 110 for her career.

Hancock 3, Oxford 2
OXFORD – Hancock overcame an early deficit to Oxford winning the final two games in a five-set matchup, 13-25, 25-22, 15-25, 25-20, 25-19.
Alexis Sampson had 11 kills and four aces for Hancock (10-8), and Kylee Letosky picked up 21 assists.
Kera Shepler had 10 kills for Oxford (11-7), while Sarah Hadlock had a big day on defense with 21 digs.

AFTON – Afton (7-11) finished the 2012 season with back-to-back wins in the MAC tourney defeating Unatego in four games Friday, 25-20, 26-24, 19-25, 27-25.
Alisha Hubbard had nine aces, 11 assists, and nine kills to pace the Crimson Knights. Maria Andrews checked in with 12 assists as well.
Kali Benedict and Hannah Bohacik served seven aces apiece for Unatego (2-15).

STAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
ENDWELL - Norwich juniors Matt Murray and Robert Jeffrey led Norwich to a 12th-place finish at the STAC Championships Saturday, and earned all-conference honors for their performances.
Murray completed the five-kilometer course in 18:00 to place 18th out of 140 runners, while Jeffrey was next in 22nd timing 18:07. Nuri Harper was the Tornado’s next-best finisher timing 20:05 for 91st.
On the girls’ side, the Tornado wound up in 14th place led by Martha Clemens’ finish. Clemens was 61st out of 119 runners clocking 23:09. Kristen Slate was next in 24:25 to wind up 87th.

ADIRONDACK – Nearly the entire Sherburne-Earlville lineup ran season-best performances in Saturday’s highly competitive Adirondack Invitational.
The Marauders’ boys were led by sophomore Ian Benedict, who finished 46th in the 217-runner field timing 18:47. “We were extremely happy with the times,” said S-E coach Anne Geary. “The course was in great shape, and I think racing against a lot of the bigger schools helped our kids pick up their pace and get ready for sectionals next week.”
S-E senior Gabby Huff led the Marauders with a 24:54. It was Huff’s final race as a varsity competitor. “We certainly appreciate Gabby’s contributions the past few years,” Geary said, who noted that Huff is unable to attend sectionals due to SAT testing.

BINGHAMTON – In the first round of the Section IV state qualifier, Norwich juniors Breanna Cashman and Jennifer Borfitz were eliminated from state tournament consideration losing to Chenango Forks’ doubles team in straight sets.
The Tornado duo did capture a win in the doubles consolation round topping Southern Cayuga’s entry before getting eliminated in the second round of consolation play in straight sets by the third-place team from U-E.
