S-E renovations to be wrapped up over Christmas break
SHERBURNE – During a Sherburne-Earlville school board meeting Monday, contractor representatives Ed Bernhauer and Ben Heintz gave a powerpoint presentation summarizing the progress of various school building projects.
“From my understanding, we have called for this presentation because we are desperately looking for a line of sight to the end,” said board member Thomas Caton.
The multi-million dollar construction and renovation projects began in 2009 and were scheduled to be concluded last December.
During the presentation, Bernhauer and Heintz were asked by the board to give a definitive date for the completion of the projects. The pair responded by saying the goal is to have all of the punch list work for the nine separate contracts wrapped up over the December holiday break. At the beginning of their presentation, they stated that eight out of the nine contracts have already been substantially completed, meaning the school has taken back use of those facilities under renovation.
Four of the nine projects, including the school’s new geothermal well, have all on-site work completed and are waiting on paper work to be finished. Bernhauer and Heintz also commended the school board on its patience with the various contractors involved.
The board also received an audit report from a representative of D’Arcangelo & Co., LLP stating S-E is in healthy financial shape and is in a good position for whatever comes ahead.
