DVD Patrol

Time to get swinging, Patrollers! The Toddster is saving the day with one big movie, one brand new DVD that’s been a long time coming, and we’re going to revisit some old favorites. Where did the year go? Can’t believe it’s November. Aim and Fire!

New on DVD

The Amazing Spider Man - Heroes that get started sometimes have their origin changed for a new generation. Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) went to live with his Aunt May and Uncle Ben (Sally Field and Martin Sheen) at a young age because his parents were scientists who discovered a formula but had to run away to keep it out of the wrong hands. Years later, Peter discovers it while going through his fathers’ things. He goes to visit his Dad’s old partner Curt Connors(Rhys Ifans) and shows him what he’s found. Connors uses that research to generate a new arm for himself. Peter is also bitten by a radioactive spider that gives Peter the power of a spider. He also meets Gwen Stacy and she discovers that the Doctor has become a human lizard. Peter has to find a way to stop him. Will he master his new powers and save the city in time? Garfield and Stone will teaming again for the sequel and rumor has it that Jamie Foxx might be up for the role of Electro. Stay tuned!

Shazam! (The Complete Live Action Series) - Some heroes have to learn their lessons along the way. Billy Batson (Michael Gray) and Mentor (Les Tremaine) travel the highway and byways finding people who are in trouble and need a little help in their travels. In times of real trouble, Billy has been granted the power by the gods to transform into Captain Marvel by saying the word “Shazam.” In the pilot episode, Billy and Mentor run across a young boy who has friends who like to take chances and steal cars to go joy riding. He knows it’s wrong but he doesn’t want his friends to think he’s scared. Will Billy, with the help of Captain Marvel, be able to help him in time? The best way to pick this one up to is to go online to get it from Best Buy or a website that sells DVDs like deepdiscount.com or amazon.com. These websites are great ways to get hard to find movies or TV shows.

Also on DVD

The Batman vs. Dracula - Heroes of legend get their start from the strangest places. Bruce Wayne became inspired to become the Batman when a Bat flew through his window. This gave him the start he needed. Years later, the Batman has become an enemy of evil and the nemesis of such crooks as the Joker and the Penguin. During a chase from Batman, the Penguin stumbles upon a tomb of an ancient evil that has found its’ way from Europe. Count Dracula has been buried and now is free after 200 years. He has set his eyes on the latest love of Bruce Wayne’s life Vicki Vale. Dracula doesn’t realize who Bruce really is. Can The Batman prove that he’s a match for Dracula and save Vicki? Starting in 2013, a brand new Batman series titled “Beware The Batman” will begin airing on the Cartoon Network.

Condorman - Comic books have to get their inspiration from someplace. Woody Wilkins (Michael Crawford) was a comic book writer and artist who thought he needed realism to sell his characters and made sure that if his main guy, Condorman, wasn’t able to do it in real life, he didn’t do it in the book. Woody wanted to go international with his book so he decided to go visit his friend Russ (James Denton) who worked for the CIA in Paris. Russ needed a favor and asked Woody just to deliver some papers to Istanbul. Woody has a habit to overdue things and meets the beautiful Russian Spy Natalia (Barbara Carrera) along the way. Woody helps her escape from Turkish thugs and as soon as it starts, it’s pretty much over. Not so fast. Natalia wants to defect and she asks for Condorman to bail her out. How far will Woody go and how much more real can Condorman become? Another fun favorite of the Toddster’s is “Sky High” starring Kurt Russell and is available in stores now.
I always like to bring back stuff from time to time just to let you know that it’s still out there. I was glad to hear that The Colonia Theater will still be around and some kind folks are making sure that it will be ready for some new movies when it’s back up and running. Also, Disney now owns George Lucas’ company and the entire Star Wars franchise. Seeing a teamup between Mickey Mouse and Darth Vader would sure be weird. Gotta go! The Toddster shall return.
