Doug and Telisha Williams Saturday at 6OTS
OXFORD – This Saturday, at 7:30 p.m., 6 On The Square (6OTS) is pleased to welcome back Doug and Telisha Williams. Hailing from a Southwest Virginia area that lies in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, these young artists write and sing about hard times and how life is really lived. They blend old time country and honky-tonk with blues, and can go from a knock-your-socks-off country ballad to a blistering rocker that will have everyone clapping and singing along. Quick wit and fearless delivery make every show original and personal.
Doug is an accomplished guitar player on both acoustic and electric and has plenty of ability to pick, pluck, strum, or bend a guitar string to get the sound he’s looking for.
Telisha has the presence and poise of an actress with extremely versatile and commanding vocals. Her beautiful voice is capable of twang, rock ‘n roll or romantic ballads.
This charismatic duo has been performing in ‘sweet-harmony’ since high school when they were first sweethearts sixteen years ago. They’re married and still making heartfelt, beautiful music together, but the wisdom, integrity and grit of their compositions has deepened. Doug and Telisha write songs about a place where old time religion, superstition, run down bars, gravel parking lots and boarded up factories all mingle together. On stage they have a stunning charisma that can transform a raucous bar into a quiet listening room. Their roots are real, their words are true, and you can hear, smell, and taste that influence in all of their songs. Their latest record, “Ghost of the Knoxville Girl” is being recognized for that honest flavor and has been climbing the Americana Music Charts!
“We were captivated by their twangy sound. Doug is a pretty mean picker and Telisha, well, Telisha’s voice is the second coming of Patsy Cline.” — Jeff Katz, Ragzine
There is something mystical about the connection of Doug and Telisha’s hauntingly dark songs and their quick wit and fearless delivery that make every show original and personal. Purchase tickets on-line at the discounted price of $15 (plus a $2 service charge) until the day of the show; $18 at the door. Concert ticket price for students is always $2; please call to make a student reservation! Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
6 On The Square is located at 6 LaFayette Park in downtown Oxford. Phone: 843-OTS6 (6876).
