DVD Patrol
Staying on point, Patrollers! The DVD Patrol has been busy including doing reviews a new way, but more on that later.
The Toddster also hopes all the patrollers who keep track of us take all the movies into consideration for gift suggestions.
It comes in pretty handy now and again. Let’s see what we’re leading this time around.
New on DVD
The Bourne Legacy - Jason Bourne came from a government program called Treadstone that turned him into a government assassin. Something went wrong and during his last mission he was left with amnesia and went looking for answers. Sometimes the answers you find may not be the ones you want. Bourne ended up stopping the program and went to the press, exposing it to the public. Now the head of the program (Edward Norton) wants to shut it all down and has ordered all the rest of the operatives of the program to be eliminated. His last operative, Eric Cross (Jeremy Renner) isn’t sure what is happening and needs his medications to stay right. To find out what his superiors are doing, he has to find the last scientist (Rachel Weisz) who can help him. Can Eric find the answers he needs and protect her too? Renner is a busy guy with a new project coming soon in a new version of “Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters” in theaters in January.
Ted - We all have toys we loved when were kids. John Bennett (Mark Wahlberg) has led a charmed life and we own things we keep from when we were kids. John had a wish when he was a kid to have a friend and his parents picked up a teddy bear that he named Ted (Seth Mcfarlane). Ted came alive and is now living with his pal. John wants to grow up and make a life with his new girlfriend Lori (Mila Kunis). Ted won’t let go and doesn’t want to leave. Lori and John will be tested like they never have before. Can they make it or will Ted be staying around? Mcfarlane is quite busy with “Family Guy” and his other shows along with getting ready to host the Oscars in February 2013. Also, Wahlberg teams with Russell Crowe in a new thriller called “Broken City” coming soon.
Also on DVD
Ice Age: Continental Drift - Our heroes are back. Manny (Ray Romano), Diego (John Leguizamo), and Sid (Denis Leary) get stuck on an iceberg and get separated from the rest of the pack. During the trip, they run into a lot of different challenges including meeting new types of animals, stopping pirates, and exploring a new world. They have to put up with a lot. Also, our little pal Skrat is back and he’s finally reunited with that acorn that’s always just out of his reach. Can they figure out how to deal with it all? My sources have let me know that there is already another Ice Age in the works. We’ll see!
New in Theaters
Deadfall - It’s never easy bringing family into the family business so to speak. Addison (Eric Bana) decided to bring Liza (Olivia Wilde) to rob a casino. The robbery goes well but they get into a traffic accident just before one of the worst blizzards that Michigan has ever seen. They get separated and Liza has to find her way. She runs into Jay (Charlie Hunnan) who has just gotten out of prison after serving time for a boxing scandal. They hit it off and Jay decides to take her home for Thanksgiving with his parents Chet and June (Kris Kristofferson and Sissy Spacek). Liza lets him know where she’s going but during the journey she’s not sure that a life of crime is for her. Addison has a tough go of it but finds his way to her and starts a stand off with Jay and his family. What will happen next?
The Toddster’s Take - It’s rare that I get to see a movie before anyone else does. This one I was able to see and not a bad one at that. Bana has really made a name for himself over the years and has really done well. Olivia Wilde is really building her resume and has been making her presence known especially coming from the World of Television and the TV show “House.” The rest of the cast was good and a good story. See in theaters now.
That’s it for this time out. On the way, we have our final teamup for the year and I gave my team the choice to do what they want to do. Who says the Toddster isn’t in the Christmas spirit? Time to go. Catch the Toddster next time.
