OV grad wins free textbooks
COBLESKILL - Otselic Valley graduate Charles “Chuck” Bishop received an early Christmas present at SUNY Cobleskill’s Department of Sport & Exercise's Buckets-for-Books Shootout, Saturday, Dec. 8.
The freshman Agricultural Engineering major won free textbooks during halftime of the Fighting Tigers’ women’s game against Keuka College.
The object of the shootout competition was for a randomly selected Cobleskill student to shoot and make a layup, a free throw, a three-point shot, and a halfcourt shot in one minute in order to claim the prize of free textbooks for the upcoming spring semester.
Bishop, who played on Otselic Valley’s varsity basketball team last season, was impressive stepping up and making all of the necessary shots in an amazing time of 30 seconds. The Draper Hall resident needed only five shots to win the competition.
The Buckets-for-Books Shootout was sponsored by the Fighting Tiger Department of Sport & Exercise and administered as part of a special projects course by Department of Sport & Exercise senior student Vince Spruill, Callicoon, N.Y., Sullivan West High School.
