GREENE - Norwich won the battle of Chenango County teams Friday night at Greene capturing nine of 12 events to improve to 4-0 on the season.

Killian Benedict and Curtis Woodard had a pair of individual wins for NHS. Benedict won the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke, while Woodard took the 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle. “As far as I can see, Norwich is definitely a team that should contend for the Class B championship this year,” said Greene coach Mike Platta. “They are as deep a team as they are fast. They should be a team to be reckoned with when they reach the championship portion of the season.”

Chris Bay figured in all three of the Trojans’ win including a record-breaking performance in the 200-yard freestyle. Bay broke a seven-year mark set by Robin Walker in 2005 timing 1.56.87, more than two seconds lower than Walker’s record time. Bay also won the 100 free and was part of the 400 freestyle relay.

Greene (1-2) hosts Sherburne-Earlville Thursday.
