BAINBRIDGE – Unatego finished Thursday night’s game on a 7-0 run to turn back upstart Bainbridge-Guilford (1-4) Thursday evening.

B-G trailed the entire game until Morgan Bullis’ bucket gave her club a 31-29 advantage. Unatego made a single free throw to close the margin to one, and Casey Manzanero’s hoop put her club in front for good. Down the stretch, the Spartans pulled away with free throws.

“After we lost to Harpursville on Tuesday, I thought we were starting to get better,” said B-G coach Bob Conway. “Tonight was a mixture of us getting better and playing good defense, and I’m not sure on their side.”

Unatego seemed to have control of the contest early on sprinting to a 10-2 lead. The Bobcats, who start three sophomores, trimmed the deficit to one at halftime, and hung around until the end. “We battledwell and I was pretty pleased with the effort,” Conway said. “We just have to turn that effort into some finishes, and get us on the other side of the (won-loss) ledger.”

Taylor Palmatier scored 11 points to pace B-G, while Manzanero topped Unatego’s scorers with 11.

The Bobcats host Windsor next Thursday.
