First Class Trio to perform at Belvedere Cabaret

GREENE – Performing a popular selection of tunes that includes covers of legendary artists such as Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Antonio Carlos Jobim, Norwich’s First Class Trio will kick-off its second season at the Belvedere Cabaret, 41 Genesee St., from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Featuring drummer and vocalist Mark Sands, pianist Paul Greenberg and trumpeter Gary Solomon, the First Class Trio has been performing locally for more than 20 years. Originally a duo, partnering Sands and Greenberg, Solomon first joined the group as a sub, becoming a permanent member five years ago, according to Sands. In addition to the Belvedere, the trio regularly performs at the Bohemian Moon in Norwich, as well as a number of summer concert series across Central New York. Upcoming gigs, added Sands, include the Bohemian Moon, Jan. 31, and the Brae Loch Inn, Cazenovia, March 22.
The Belvedere Cabaret, said Sands, is an establishment like no other in the area, reminiscent of a by-gone era. The space features a French Empire-style lobby and the cabaret itself, highlighted by four crystal chandeliers and an elegant, intimate performance setting. Said Sands, “There is almost the feel of being aboard a luxury cruise ship from the 1920s. The Belvedere is truly a cabaret style setting, where you dine close to the entertainment.”
According to the Belvedere’s Facebook page, the venue is one of the only of its type befitting the name cabaret for miles around, a unique and intimate entertainment and dining experience. Those interested in attending Sunday’s performance should call ahead of time for dinner reservations.
