Husband holds out hope for wife missing since December

NEW BERLIN – It’s been more than seven weeks since 36-year-old Jennifer Ramsaran went missing, and even as authorities continue to search for clues as to her whereabouts, the mother of three’s husband, Ganesh Remy Ramsaran, said he’s not giving up hope yet.
“It’s so hard to talk about, you know,” said Mr. Ramsaran in a phone interview with The Evening Sun. “It’s been a mental roller coaster. One second you have hope, the next you’re not sure. Your mind just goes everywhere. The one thing that keeps me strong is that I have to be strong for the kids, not just to protect them from the rumors, but it’s so hard to explain ...”
Ramsaran first reported his wife missing the night of Dec. 11, telling authorities she had left for Syracuse that morning to do some shopping at Destiny USA. On Dec. 12, Ramsaran located his wife’s iPhone – utilizing Apple’s Find My iPhone application – near state Route 23 and Moon Hill Road in the Town of Plymouth. Days later, Ramsaran’s father-in-law, Thomas Renz, discovered his daughter’s 2006 Chrysler Town and Country minivan parked at Plank Road Manor, Plymouth Street, in the City of Norwich. According to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, Jennifer Ramsaran has had no contact whatsoever with family or friends, and there has been no activity on any of her financial or social online accounts.
Ramsaran said he’s cooperated with the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office and Lt. Richard Cobb – who’s heading up the investigation – since day one, adding that local authorities have been “absolutely amazing” and “professional” in all regards. Ramsaran added he has made available to authorities all user IDs and passwords for the family’s online accounts, as well as access to their computers. He also admitted to taking a lie detector test, as well – something he said he believed was routine in a missing persons case.
“They have to do what they have to do [and] I have nothing but trust and support for them,” added Ramsaran. “They didn’t tell me the results, but I didn’t harm my wife. I have nothing to hide and everything I’ve told them they’ve been able to verify. They are professionals, they are trained and that’s why I respect them.”
As for hiring an attorney, it’s an option Ramsaran has never considered.
“What’s an attorney going to do?” he added. “All I care about is finding Jen. I want the truth and eventually the truth will come out, no matter how painful it is for the kids or our family.”
Ramsaran said he had noticed some changes in his wife’s behavior prior to her disappearance, such as weight loss and depression. Over the course of six weeks leading up to her disappearance, he added, she had lost approximately 20 pounds and, he stated, “not in a healthy way.”
Asked if he still believes he will see his wife again, Ramsaran simply said, “Yes ... yes, I do.”
Jennifer Ramsaran is described by authorities as a white female, approximately 5’5” and 170 lbs. She has brown hair and blue eyes, although it has been reported that she may have changed her hair color at some point prior to her disappearance. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a purple and white sweater and a black jacket. Anyone with information as to her whereabouts is asked to contact the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office at 334-2000.
