OTEGO – Unadilla Valley completed a perfect 11-0 run through the Midstate Athletic Conference, and it earned the top seed in this week’s league tournament beating the Spartans Friday night on the road.

Taylor Davis hit three three-pointers and led the Storm (13-1) with 18 points. Amanda Off scored 13 of her 15 points in the second half, and Jordan Anderson contributed 11. UV’s big three offset the season-high scoring night of Unatego’s Casey Manzanero, who finished with 27.

“Both teams definitely match up well,” said UV coach Brandi Backus. “A big key for us was the rebounding. Unatego had a ton of offensive rebounds in the first half, but we were much more aggressive in the second half.”

Trailing to start the fourth quarter, UV used a big spurt midway through the final quarter to create its biggest lead, 49-43. Emily Converse, Off, Davis, and Anderson all came up with big baskets to hold off the Spartans.

“We went to Harpursville and beat them, and Unatego is a really good team, and we beat them on their home floor,” Backus said. “In both games, we came from behind. (My team) has shown up in the big games, and they know how to take control in the end.”
