BAINBRIDGE – After being rescheduled due to frigid temperatures, the fourth annual Bainbridge Winter Fest and Sleigh Rally will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at General Clinton Park.

The event will feature sleigh rides (or wagon rides should the snow melt), snow shoeing, cross country skiing, and snowmen contests. A large number of horses, big and small, will be present pulling sleighs packed with gleeful passengers.

Most of the horses which will be present Saturday are veterans of numerous parades and horse show circuits, said organizer and owner of Afton Farrier Supply Joyce Haak. Two mini horses, participants in 15 different parades from Pittsburg to Ohio, will be pulling an old sleigh dating back to the 19th century. Although the sleigh has no official name, it was specifically designed to transport children to and from school during winter and is comprised of a number of separate sleighs chained together like a train. The school sleigh is one of only two left in the area. Another two-seater sleigh from the late 1800s will be on display. Horse owners will be bring other sleighs to give people rides as well.
