Three charged following March 18 drug raid; Sheriff’s Office responds to bomb scare in Sherburne last night
SHERBURNE – Three people have been charged following the execution of a ‘no knock’ search warrant by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 5:30 p.m. at 5A Knapp St. in the Village of Sherburne on March 18.
The raid followed a lengthy investigation by Narcotics Detectives into the distribution of heroin. Chenango County Court Judge Frank Revoir issued the search warrant.
During the execution of the search, Detectives seized heroin, cocaine, marijuana, scales, packaging material, as well as an illegally possessed rifle and cash. Three defendants were taken into custody.
Jennah I. Shreve, 21, and Joshua C. Trask, 23, both from the Village of Sherburne, have been charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third Degree with intent to sell, criminal nuisance in the first degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, criminal use of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of marijuana and endangering the welfare of a child.
Both were arraigned in the Town of North Norwich Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $1,000 bail. They are scheduled to appear in Sherburne Village Court at a later date.
Dustin Dunagan, 22, from the Town of Sherburne, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree. He was issued an appearance ticket and will appear in Sherburne Village Court at a later date.

A portion of downtown Sherburne was blocked off last night following a call received by the Sheriff's Office at approximately 7:30 p.m., regarding a suspicious pipe on the sidewalk in front of a commercial/residential building near the intersection of North and West Main streets.
“The pipe was caped on either side and although there was no fuse, we decided to err on the side of caution and called the bomb squad down in Endicott to check it out,” said Chenango County Sheriff Ernest Cutting.
A small portion of the area was evacuated due to safety concerns, while an Endicott Police Bomb Squad robot investigated the pipe. As it turned out, the pipe was empty but authorities are still conducting an investigation to determine if the pipe was deliberately placed on the sidewalk.
The Sheriff's Office and Village of Sherburne Police were also assisted by the Sherburne Fire Department.
North Main Street was reopened at approximately 12:15 a.m. – after more than four hours – and residents were allowed to return once authorities were certain the pipe was not a threat to safety.
