Norwich 5, Seton Catholic Central 2
NORWICH – Facing one of its sternest tests of the season Tuesday, Norwich again cruised with a sweep of the three doubles matches to improve to 7-0 on the season.
At first doubles, Grant Brightman and Danny Carson won their second straight match without surrendering a game. The second and third doubles teams of Brendon Budd-Alec Weaver along with Paul Archer-Andrew Evans respectively followed suit with relatively easy straight sets victories.
“Our doubles were impressive, particularly Danny and Grant,” said Norwich coach John Stewart. “It was a good win to start the week, and it’s always nice to beat Seton.”
NHS singles players Matt Craig and Roman Cwynar also kept their unbeaten records intact taking their matches in two sets. Norwich hosts Chenango Valley Wednesday and meets up with STAC power Vestal on Friday in what could be a preview of the STAC championships.
“We’re playing well, but I don’t think we’re playing our best tennis yet,” Stewart said. “We had a good week last week and we’re playing every day this week. I suspect we’ll be at our best when we play Vestal Friday.”
