Chenango, Delaware and Broome county fire departments respond to Bainbridge blaze
A commercial structure fire at Upturn Industries, Inc. in the Village of Bainbridge required more than ten fire departments from Chenango, Delaware and Broome counties to battle a working blaze early Thursday morning.
Fire departments responded to reports of smoke at Upturn Industries in Bainbridge at approximately 6:14 a.m., requiring mutual assistance from Afton, Coventry, Greene, Gilbertsville-Mount Upton, Sidney, Masonville, Harpursville, Port Crane, Trout Creek and Unadilla. Additional assistance was also on hand from the Chenango and Delaware county fire bureaus.
According to Chenango County emergency management, everyone was evacuated safely and there were no reports of injury. Numerous water tankers were called to the scene after reports of losing water pressure in the village around 7:30 a.m. As of 8:45 a.m., firefighters were said to have contained the blaze and excavators were called in at approximately 9 a.m. to open up other sections of the building for firefighters to access.
