Golden Artist Colors announces acquisition of former Apple Converting space
NORWICH – Golden Artist Colors, Inc. announced Wednesday the acquisition of the former Apple Converting building located at 65 Hale Street in Norwich.
Golden Artist Colors is currently headquartered in Columbus in its 100,000 square foot facility and employs 157 people. The company prides itself in that its Custom Lab is the only facility of its kind and the company is dedicated to designing products to the specifications of individual artists.
The former Apple Converting building on Hale Street is 45,000 square feet and will significantly increase the company’s warehousing and distribution capacity. It will also allocate additional manufacturing floor space within the current facility in Columbus.
Commerce Chenango assisted with the coordination of the acquisition of the Hale Street location. Its efforts helped the company secure financing support from the county and state as well as from NBT Bank.
“The purchase of this facility would not have been possible without the support and guidance from several local business partners and funding secured from a Community Development Block Grant, which was submitted by Chenango County,” said Barbara J. Schindler, President and Chief Operating Officer of Golden Artist Colors.
Golden Artist Colors was the recipient of this year’s Distinguished Business Award from Commerce Chenango. Operations Supervisor Edward Holmquist had said regarding the award that Golden Artist Colors is built on three corporate constructs: to delight the customer, provide rewards and opportunities for staff, and profitability. He maintained holding these core principles drives the company to continuously improve quality and lead in the art materials industry.
“We are excited that the new facility will help support the growing demand for our products throughout the global marketplace,” said Golden Artist Colors Chief Financial Officer James E. Henderson. “The Norwich facility, which represents the company’s first expansion off the original company property, provides an additional business platform for expanded growth and the achievement of our long term strategic goals.”
Schindler also extended her gratitude and appreciation to David Theleman, Senior Vice President and Regional Commercial Banking Manager at NBT Bank and Jennifer Telesky, Assistant Vice President and Commercial Banking Relationship Manager at NBT Bank.
“We have worked closely with NBT Bank throughout the years and each time, their commitment and dedication in supporting our business growth has been incredible. We are very grateful,” added Schindler.
The project is anticipated to bring 37 new jobs to the area.
