Oxford voters take to the polls
OXFORD – Oxford residents took to the polls Tuesday casting ballots for two positions on the Village of Oxford Board of Trustees and a village mayor.
Election results will be counted this morning, as a number of write-in candidates announced their desire to run after the deadline to be placed on the ballot. While this is permissible, it makes it more time consuming to tally the votes so that winners can be determined, according to the Chenango County Board of Elections. In addition to the write-in candidates, a number of absentee ballots will be reviewed and added toward the official results.
Including the write-in candidates, five Oxford residents were contending for two two-year trustee positions: John O’Connor, incumbent trustee member was on the ballot; Joe Spence, incumbent trustee member was on the ballot; Zachary Crandall, 18-year-old Independent and Village of Oxford resident was on the ballot; Hilary Wilcox, life-long resident of Oxford with a background in finance and banking ran as a write-in; and Catherine Ulfik, a resident of the village for 17 years with history of serving as Deputy Supervisor on the McDonough Town Council ran as a write-in.
