Thomsen places second at junior nationals

GREENSBORO, N.C. – A record-breaking runner for Unadilla Valley High School with two more years left to pad those marks, junior-to-be Dylan Thomsen went national last weekend.

Thomsen placed second in his age division this past weekend at the USA Track and Field National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships hosted by North Carolina A&T State University.

Running unattached as an independent entry in the 1,500-meter 15-16 age class, Thomsen won his preliminary heat timing 4:13.22 to advance to Sunday’s finals.

Thomsen ran stride for stride with eventual winner Thomas Pollard for two laps before settling for second place in the finals. Thomsen chopped nearly eight seconds off of his qualifying time finishing in 4:05.55 seconds.
