CHENANGO FORKS - Norwich’s volleyball team beat the high heat and humidity – and Chenango Forks’ volleyball team – winning for the first time this season Tuesday night.
Norwich took all three games by scores of 25-16, 25-22, 25-23. “It was extremely hot in their gym, but we played well, we had good rallies, and we’re blocking better at the net,” said Norwich coach Shelly Alger. “We also have a few girls that are serving really well.”
NHS junior Courtney Scheer was the top server on the evening finishing with a team-high seven aces. Meghan Komendarek topped the hitters with eight kills, while Caitlin Brown and Logann Dolan finished with eight assists apiece.
Norwich hosts Susquehanna Valley tonight.

Girls’ Swimming
Norwich 93, Johnson City 74
JOHNSON CITY – Norwich won its second meet of the season Tuesday night winning eight out of 11 events against Johnson City.
Senior Erin Gawronski lowered her season-low times taking the 200 individual medley (2:19.90) and 100 butterfly (1:04.20). Ravyn Benedict also captured two individual events winning the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Danika Tworkowsky, who was hampered by an injury earlier in the season, won the 50 free timing 27.35 seconds.
