Reserves spark Norwich in win over Sus Valley

NORWICH – Norwich won its second match this week and evened its record at 2-2 overall beating Susquehanna Valley in four games Thursday night, 25-19, 18-25, 25-20, 25-21.

Norwich struggled with its serving in the second game as the Sabers evened the match at one game each, and the Tornado fell behind 8-2 in the third game. With half the starting lineup taking a seat, the Tornado rallied to take the lead scoring 12 of the next 14 points to never look back. “The bench did step up and gave us a spark tonight,” said Norwich coach Shelly Alger. “The starters came back in for the fourth game, and played really well.”

Courtney Scheer had seven aces for NHS, Meghan Komendarek led with seven kills, and Caitlin Brown had seven assists. Norwich is at Johnson City Tuesday.
