Cyclones post shutout wins at Cazenovia
CAZENOVIA – The Norwich Cyclones’ B and C teams downed Cazenovia Sunday with a pair of shutout victories.
Troy Spratley had first-half TD runs of 14, 19, and 24 yards for the C team in a 26-0 victory. John Lorimer added two point-after touchdown receptions from quarterback Michael Squires in building a 20-0 halftime lead. Squires added a second-half score on a one-yard run to end Norwich’s scoring.
Cameron Byrne rushed for good yardage on the day and the Cyclones defense dominated the line of scrimmage throughout as Dante Geislinger, Jared Houck, Elijah Langille, Andrew Mullen, Spratley, Tyler Rice and the entire defense held the Lakers in check.
In the rematch of last season’s Tri-Valley League championships, the B squad blanked the Lakers, 20-0. Colin Montgomery had the lone first-half score racing 19 yards to paydirt for the 6-0 lead. The Cyclones took the kickoff in the second half, and compiled a time-consuming 60-yard drive that ended in a two-yard TD run from Zack Mills. Jacob Davis added a two-point conversion kick. Mills finished the scoring in the fourth with a three-yard TD and led all rushers on the day.
Elijah Rodriguez led the defense with two touchdown-saving tackles. Noah Bufalini had an interception. Mills, David Berger, Shane Lawrence, Carson Maynard, JT Vinal, James Jones and the entire defense controlled the field of play.
The Cyclones D team controlled play in its game with Cazenovia. The Cyclones A team had a bye on the weekend.
This weekend’s games have the A team traveling to Little Falls Saturday for a 7:30 p.m clash. Sunday, The D, C, and B teams travel to Whitestown for 10 a.m., 12 p.m., and 2 p.m. starts respectively.
