27th Applefest a success
GREENE – The Ball Flats in the Village of Greene were filled with everything apple on Saturday, as people flocked for the 27th annual Applefest.
The festival is held rain or shine each year, and Saturday’s weather proved to be an ideal day for such an event. Activities on site throughout the day included breakfast, a bounce house for children, pumpkin painting, a chicken barbecue, music, crafts, vendors, and of course – an abundance of apples and apple products.
This family-oriented event has been known to bring between 10,000 and 15,000 people each year to the Greene community. Applefest is sponsored by and organized through the First United Methodist Church, 32 South Chenango Street in Greene. The church as well as other area nonprofit organizations work to prepare the food that was available and abundant at the event this year.
