SHERBURNE – Holland Patent put a damper on S-E’s senior recognition night scoring with five minutes left to prevail Tuesday evening.
Mason Hurkle trapped a shot off his chest, then turned a fired a shot into the lower right corner for the winner.
S-E took a one-goal lead 15 minutes in when Skyler Gold powered his way up the field and took a shot, the rebound went to Nathan Piazza who put the ball away. Nicholas Finn tied the game for Holland Patent just before halftime.
The Marauders (8-4, 10-6) are idle until sectional play next week.

Cowen added an insurance goal 26 minutes into the second half to create a three-goal bulge. "We were not quite ready to play, and McGraw made it count," said OV coach Jake Preston. "At this point, we're not doing the little things right, and that leads to big problems against good teams."

Alexis Benscoter scored 6 1/2 minutes in for the Golden Eagles, and the first of Courtney Dunham's two goals with 6:11 left in the first half made it a two-goal advantage.
"Whitney Point played really well and passed it well," said Greene coach Sue Carlin. "We had to work hard, and just couldn't generate anything on offense. We had a couple breakdowns, and against good teams, you will pay."
Greene (7-6) hosts Maine-Endwell Thursday.

GREENE - Greene made its way back to the .500 mark Tuesday night against Whitney Point winning its third straight meet.
The Trojans (5-5) shuffled their lineup and swam exhibition in several lanes of most events, yet still came away with victories in all but two events. Annie Whitman (200 free), Kailey Yanusas (200 IM), Taylor Wahlers (diving), Julia Arboit (100 free), Margot McDermott (500 free), Nicole Flohr (50 free), and Payton Cutting (100 breaststroke). Greene also swept all three relay races. Several of the best performances, said Greene head coach Mike Platta, came from younger swimmers who are not normally on the victory podium. "I think it's important to get younger swimmers into situations where they can shine," Platta said.
Greene hosts Sherburne-Earlville today.

ENDICOTT - Norwich senior Corey Johnson finished ninth out of 67 golfers at the 2013 STAC Championship at En Joie Golf Club Tuesday afternoon.
Johnson shot a 79 over the par-72 layout, three shots off the winning score of 76. Ryan Johnson was 17th overall shooting an 83, and freshman Nate Scheer had a 99.
Johnson, along with fellow NHS senior Greg Todd played on teams the past four seasons that won two division titles and two Class B championships. Norwich head coach Bob Branham said Norwich went 30-2 at home over the past four seasons and 46-17 overall.
