Maine-Endwell 1, Greene 0 (OT)
GREENE – Although it came in a loss, Greene coach Sue Carlin saw her team begin to jell Thursday in the final game before postseason play.
"I was happy with our passing game and we were trusting each other," Carlin said after Thursday’s game against Maine-Endwell. "Katherine Klecha controlled the middle of the field and probably had her best game this season."
After 60 minutes of scoreless play in regulation time, Maine-Endwell scored the game's lone goal with 6:35 left in overtime. Jillian Greene picked up the ball on a turnover, and drove the ball into the circle before taking the winning shot.
"We feel bad about the turnover, but we'd rather have it today than next week in sectionals," Carlin said.
Greene (7-7) plays at Sidney Wednesday afternoon in the first round of Class C sectional play.

Boys' Soccer

Otselic Valley 1, Blessed Virgin Mary 1 (OT)
SOUTH OTSELIC - Against state-ranked Blessed Virgin Mary Wednesday, Otselic Valley played to a tie game.
OV tied the game in the 73rd minute. when Jonathan Liuzzo's long throw-in was headed by Austin Reynolds toward Matt Neal, who connected on the tying shot.
"We came ready to play today and we put BVM on their heels early in the game," said OV coach Jake Preston. "This was a good result for us being that they are ranked number 17 in the state."
The Vikings close their regular season today when they visit DeRuyter.

HOLLAND PATENT – Heading toward sectional play, Sherburne-Earlville's road date at Holland Patent Thursday ended in a tie game.
The Marauders' lone goal came from Senior Sarah Cole on a pass from Gemma Godfrey. Game statistics will appear in a later edition of The Evening Sun.

Owego 3, Norwich 0
NORWICH – Owego jumped out to quick starts in every game beating Norwich in three Thursday evening, 25-6, 25-19, 25-14.
Owego's six-foot-two middle hitter, Rachel Merrill, had 12 kills and four blocks, while setter Carrie Farr had 22 assists as Owego improved to 14-0 on the season.
Logann Dolan had six assists for Norwich and Courtney Scheer finished with four kills.

Patti Simpson had eight digs for Oxford, whose record dropped to 5-11.
