Two appear in County Court

One person faces up to a year in the Chenango County Correctional Facility and another is now awaiting trial after making their pleas in Chenango County Court on Friday.

Dequay Shoulders, a 30-year-old a Syracuse resident, pled not guilty before being remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $25,000 cash bail (or $150,000 property), on three charges - two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, class B felonies, as well as one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor.

According to Shoulders' attorney, Susan Lettis, he “does want to the opportunity to work with probation” and “understands the severity of the charges and has respect for the court in the process.”

It is alleged that on or about Sept. 11, in the Town of New Berlin, Shoulders, was arrested following a “no-knock” search warrant executed at 118 Meadow Lane. Upon entering the residence, officers of the Chenango County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division found a large quantity – approximately one ounce – of crack cocaine, cash, packaging material and other drug paraphernalia.
