Norwich wins on senior night

Norwich 93, Sherburne-Earlville 81
NORWICH – Thursday evening belonged to the Norwich seniors, who not only were honored before the meet, but came up with most of the victories against visiting Sherburne-Earlville.
Seniors Ravyn Benedict, Courteney Llewellyn, and Erin Gawronski all had at least three total victories on the evening, and to close, it as an all-senior 400 free relay – Llewellyn, Gawronski, Benedict, and Rachel Zieno that capped the meet with a win.
"It really was a fun meet and good send off for our six seniors," said Norwich coach Kevin Diefenbacher. "Now we have to turn around and get ready for the Class B sectional meet."
Picking up two individual-event wins was Marybeth Ward, who won the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly.
The visiting Marauders' Kiana Marshall captured the diving competition, while Liz Bachman was victorious in the 100 breaststroke.
The Section IV Class B meet is slated for Nov. 6 at Owego Free Academy.

Bainbridge-Guilford 3, Walton 0
BAINBRIDGE – Bainbridge-Guilford won its 14th game of the season as it heads toward postseason play beating Walton 25-18, 25-15, 25-16 Thursday for third place in the Midstate Athletic Conference tournament.
Cassie Safford had a team-high seven aces for B-G (14-4), and Morgan Bullis led with six kills, four assists, and three stuff blocks.
B-G plays either Candor of Hancock next Tuesday in the first round of sectional play.

NEW BERLIN – In the MAC mini tournament seventh- versus eighth-place matchup, Unadilla Valley best Oxford in four sets Thursday, 19-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-21.
Shannon McIntyre had a big all-around night for the Storm finishing with five aces, 12 assists, and eight kills.
Oxford's Octavia Bishop led her club with five kills and 23 digs.
