Three arraigned in county court
NORWICH – Three people were arraigned in Chenango County Court on Friday, including one individual who was indicted on charges of attempted murder.
• Connie Hendrickson of Greene appeared before Chenango County Court Judge Frank B. Revoir Jr. on Friday, pleading not guilty to charges of attempted murder, a class B violent felony. In addition, 47-year-old Hendrickson was charged with assault in the first degree, a class C felony; as well as reckless endangerment in the first degree and reckless endangerment in the second degree, both class A misdemeanors.
It is alleged that Hendrickson, on or about Aug. 1 in the Town of McDonough, fired an SKS rifle at another female during a domestic dispute. According to authorities, Hendrickson got into a fight with her ex-boyfriend, Glenn O’Connor, age 45, and Kimberly Haughton, age 28, which led to her shooting six shots at Haughton and her car. Thee bullets hit the car but nobody was injured.
“The alligation is she shot a rifle and the defendant was lucky to have the vehicle stop the bullets before they hit her,” said District Attorney Joseph McBride, further asking County Judge Revoir for an order of protection for both Haughton and O’Connor, and that a “reasonable bail amount be set” for Hendrickson.
Because charges were not filed within 45 days of the incident, Hendrickson had been released from the Chenango County Correctional Facility on Sept. 25 and was living with family in Smithville. Following her court appearance, she was remanded back to the correctional facility on $20,000 cash bail. According to her attorney, Peter Orville, she has “no criminal history” and “no history of violence.”
• Jacqueline Harkins, 30, Unadilla, pled not guilty on four counts of forgery in the second degree, all class D felonies. According to prosecution, Harkins forged her employers signature on checks on various dates at financial institutions in the Village of Afton and the Town of Bainbridge, with the intent to deceive and defraud. Fraud also allegedly occurred at different financial institutions in Broome, Otsego and Delaware counties, where Harkins faces similar charges.
It is alleged that Harkins forged a total $12,578 in a “serious ongoing crime,” said McBride.
Following arraignment, Harkins was released on her own recognizance. “It makes perfect sense that she continue her ROR status,” said Public Defender John Cameron.
• Faziem Jenkins, 18, South Otselic, pled not guilty on three counts: criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony; criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, a class D felony; and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor.
On or about May 31, Jenkins allegedly did knowingly and unlawfully possess 49 glassine envelopes of the narcotic drug heroin with the intent to sell it. She was released to the custody of her parents.
Each of the three will appear in court at later dates.
