S-E Drama Club presents series of plays
SHERBURNE – The Sherburne-Earlville Drama Club has been working hard on its upcoming production of one act plays. Encore: An Evening of One-Act Plays will be presented 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2 and 2 p.m. Sunday Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. at the High School auditorium.
For the past fifteen years, S-E Drama Club Advisor Colleen Law-Tefft has given the Middle and High School students the opportunity to produce and direct a theatrical production. Auditions are held early in the school year and regular rehearsals and set building starts shortly thereafter.
“This is the first year that I didn’t have a student come forward to act as director for the show, they all wanted to act, so I chose the plays, some of which may be repeats from other years,” noted Law-Tefft.
She added, “I tried to pick out plays that I felt were very strong and that would give the actors great stage experience.”
Law-Tefft went on to explain that the one-act plays in the fall are a good way to break in new participants and also serve as a training ground for future performances.
This year’s show features two acts, each comprising 5 short one-act plays, each running about 10 minutes in length. ‘Charm of the British,’ ‘Forty Minute Finish,’ ‘As You Like It,’ and ‘My Name is Leslie’ are a few of the plays that will be included in this year’s offering, one being an original play by local author Hugh Humphreys.
