FENTON – Norwich senior Robert Jeffrey qualified for the New York State Country Championships placing fifth overall in the Section IV Class C meet Thursday at Chenango Valley State Park.
Jeffrey placed fifth overall out of 96 runners timing 17:11 over the five-kilometer course. Jeffrey's finish helped Norwich to an eighth-place team finish. Placing 30th was junior Frank Garcia, who clocked 18:52.
Martha Clemens' finishing time of 23:04 placed her 29th among 71 entries to lead NHS's girls.
