The Place fundraiser makes it look a lot like Christmas

NORWICH – The Place is bringing back its Holiday Wreath Fundraiser to the community for the first time in more than four years to raise funds for program field trips and other needs of the nonprofit organization.
A limited availability of cash-and-carry wreaths will be available between the hours of 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Nov. 30 at The Place's downtown Norwich location – 22 E. Main St., behind the U.S. Post Office building.
This year, The Place has deliberately aligned its fundraiser with the Norwich Merchants Association's “Small Business Saturday,” launching the wreath sale on Nov. 30 in an effort to boost foot traffic to downtown merchants.
“We are excited to launch our Holiday Wreath Fundraiser on Small Business Saturday and be a part of such a fun shop local event,”said Rebecca Sands, Executive Director of The Place.
Said Sands, “Our organization relies heavily on the support of our community donors and local businesses, and being a part of Small Business Saturday gives us the opportunity to return that support.”
“It is our hope that holding the sale on Nov. 30 will bolster foot traffic for the shop local event, as well as encourage community members to stop by and visit The Place,” Sands added.
According to Marjorie Grap, AmeriCorps Program Coordinator at The Place – who is coordinating the Wreath Fundraiser – “People among the community seem excited that we are bringing back our holiday wreaths. We have already received several requests for order forms from local businesses and community members.”
Grap went on to say, “We are encouraging community members and businesses to pre-order their wreaths as only a limited supply will be available for sale on the 30.”
In keeping with “shop local” ideals, the base wreaths are being purchased from Pires Flower Basket in Norwich and decorated by board members, staff, children, teens and families of The Place.
Organizers of the sale have charged the children, teens and staff of The Place with decorating a target number of 85 wreaths as a goal for the reestablished event.
In addition to wreaths, The Place will be selling an assortment of holiday decorations, also made by The Place staff, children and teens as well as community members. Light refreshments will be available.
Wreaths measure approximately 25 inches tip to tip and will be decorated according to choice of bow color. They can be pre-ordered through Nov. 13 for $25. A limited supply of wreaths will also be for sale on Small Business Saturday. Wreaths ordered after Nov. 13 will be $30.
The last day to order for this year's sale is Dec. 11 and wreaths can be picked up at The Place between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Small Business Saturday. Businesses who are unable to pick up their wreaths may request free drop off service.
Visit The Place located at 22 East Main Street in Norwich to fill out an order form or call Marjorie Grap at 336-9696 ext. 106.
