Body found in Unadilla River

BUTTERNUTS (OTSEGO COUNTY) – The New York State Police say they may have found the body of 45-year-old Daniel Reimers, a New Berlin resident who was reported missing earlier this month.
According to police, the body was found underwater along the eastern shore of the Unadilla River in the Town of Butternuts, approximately two miles south of the Village of South New Berlin. The discovery follows a two-week missing person investigation led by the New York State Police, the Town of New Berlin Police Department, New York State Forrest Rangers, the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office and several civilian volunteers.
Reimers had been reported missing on Nov. 7 by his roommate. Friends say Reimers did not return home on that day, although his winter coat, cell phone and medication were left at his home on state Route 8 in New Berlin.
The investigation into the death is still ongoing.
