UV boys hand Delhi first loss

Unadilla Valley 60, Delhi 45

DELHI – Unadilla Valley turned up the pressure in the second half Friday night to deal Delhi its first defeat of the season.

After sitting much of the first half with foul trouble, UV sophomore David Dufresne keyed the Storm’s offense scoring all 18 of his points.

“We played much better defense in the second half and we boxed out their big guys better,” said Unadilla Valley coach Matt Osborne. “We didn’t play our best game, but we struggled through it.”

Nate Shackleton added 15 points, and sophomore Brett Hanslmaier scored nine points to go with 15 rebounds.

The Storm host Walton on Wednesday.

Greene 70, Sidney 54

SIDNEY – Greene rebounded from its opening defeat with its first victory at Sidney in several years.

The Trojans had big first and third quarters, and built their lead to 24 points at the end of three after outscoring the Warriors 29-10 in the period.
