High school winter concert

NORWICH – The Norwich High School Winter Concert is singing the community into a frenzy of holiday spirit this Tues., Dec. 17 in the Norwich High School at 7 p.m. The following groups will be performing on the choir program: the String Ensemble directed by Miss Allison Rehn; the Treble Choir, the Mixed Choir, Madrigal Singers directed by Mrs. Mary Williams; the Wind Ensemble directed by Mrs. Amy Rogers and the Grand Finale-Combined Ensembles, who will be performing “Holiday Favorites.”
The highlights of the concert include “Ancestors” by Shirl Jae Atwell, performed by the String Ensemble; LeRoy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride,” performed by the Wind Ensemble; “What Do The Stars Do” by Sherri Porterfield, performed by the Treble Choir; “We Shall Overcome” arranged by Raymond Wise, performed by the Mixed Choir; and “Carol of the Bells” performed by the Madrigal Singers.
The performance will include recognition for junior student, Maria Morbidini, for participating in the New York State School Music Association’s Conference All-State Mixed Choir in Rochester, NY. She was among 240 singers chosen from nearly 10,000 candidates state wide.
Norwich High School encourages everyone to come out and support the young singing talent for the holidays.
