Family Planning of South Central opens new location
NORWICH – Family Planning of South Central New York will move its Norwich health center to its new home at 5 Cortland Street in downtown Norwich on Monday, December 23.
Family Planning purchased the former Ray Cooley Insurance property in August 2013. The building has been upgraded to a state-of-the-art health center with modern medical examination rooms and a private office for the educator to meet with clients. It is now handicapped accessible.
Debra Marcus, Chief Executive Officer said, “We are thrilled with the transformation of our new building into a state-of-the-art health care center and even more thrilled that we will be able to continue to serve our Chenango County clients and patients for years to come.”
Family Planning has been part of the Norwich community since 1972. In March 2013, they changed their name to mark their disaffiliation from their former parent organization. Last year, Family Planning in Norwich provided 2,134 patient visits, including 990 cancer screenings, 570 STD tests, and 312 HIV tests. They offer birth control, annual exams, and life saving cancer screenings to all patients, regardless of their ability to pay.
