BINGHAMTON – Greene made amends quickly.
A day removed from a blowout loss to Norwich in its Stop DWI Holiday Classic opener, Greene used a strong fourth quarter to defeat Seton Catholic Central in the Regional Division II consolation game.
Zach Wentlent went 5-for-5 from the charity stripe in the last quarter, had seven points over those last eight minutes, and finished with 18 to lead his club. “I was really happy how we came back,” said Greene coach Rick Smith. “We settled down to have some good possessions at the end of the fourth quarter.”
Brandon Davis had nine points and nine rebounds in the win, while Justin Ekstrom posted a seven-point, nine-rebound, six-assist game.
Greene (4-2) hosts Chenango Forks Jan. 6.

HARPURSVILLE – Harpursville, led by senior Miranda Drummond, jumped out on Oxford early in the final game of the Hornets’ round-robin tourney.
Drummond, a St. Bonaventure recruit next season, hit three threes and scored 12 points in an 18-2 opening stanza. “They have a high quality team, they’re number one in the state, and they played like that in the first and third quarters,” said Oxford coach Chris Palmer. “We played them even in the second quarter, and I hope that is something we can build on.”
Rachel Seiler scored 10 points for Oxford, who host Unatego Jan. 6.

JOHNSON CITY – Lucy Dellos scored 19 points for Johnson City in last Friday’s win over Greene in the Pete Hyde Tournament.
The Wildcats led by 13 at the half, but saw Greene slice that margin to six in the second half. “We had a nice stretch in the second half, but the bottom line is that we were hurt by foul trouble,” said Greene coach Dave Gorton. “That’s been a recent theme of ours.”
Jessica David and Katie Carey had solid games for Greene. David led with 15 points, and Carey scored nine.
