Oxford beats Delhi in overtime

OXFORD – Oxford’s Kevin Davis had two steals in the last minute of overtime, and the sophomore forward made a a single free throw with 13 seconds left to seal the Blackhawks’ second win of the season Monday night.
Delhi forced overtime when Ben Denison banked in a three-pointer with one second left in the fourth quarter. Alex Specht scored inside for Delhi in the first minute of overtime to give his team the lead, but Oxford’s defense tightened up. Buckets by Cameron Heggie and Matt Moore gave Oxford the lead for good.
“We were able to make a couple of big defensive stops at the end,” said Oxford coach Tim Davis. “We’re playing hard and playing pretty good defense. We’re just trying to grind it out.”
Moore led Oxford with 13 points, Davis had 11 points, 11 rebounds, eight steals, seven assists, and six blocked shots, and Heggie tickled twine for 10.
Oxford hosts Deposit Wednesday.

South Kortright 64, Bainbridge-Guilford 42
BAINBRIDGE – B-G beat South Kortright by 25 points on the road last season. The Rams returned the favor Monday night building a 28-point lead after three quarters.
“They turned us over quite a bit, and they were able to convert those into easy baskets,” said B-G coach Greg Warren. “We had a little foul trouble tonight, and we’re in a little funk. I was happy with how hard we played in the fourth quarter.”
Lucas Butcher scored 16 points for B-G, who host Walton on Wednesday.

LITTLE FALLS - Sherburne-Earlville lost for the just the third time in 11 starts this season in a non-league game at Little Falls Monday night.
Little Falls combined to make 11 free throws in the fourth quarter, and S-E was held to a season-low 15 points in the second half. “We played a very good first half, but we kind of succumbed to their defensive intensity,” said S-E coach Kevin Vibbard. “We were fighting foul trouble, and we never got into a good rhythm in the second half.”
Little Falls made 30 free throws in the game compared to just three for the Marauders.
Austin Jasper led the Marauders with 12 points, and Ben Khoury added 11.

Sherburne-Earlville 50, Cooperstown 49
COOPERSTOWN – Sherburne-Earlville extended its unbeaten streak Monday night – barely.
The Marauders’ Savannah Irwin made two free throws with 31 seconds left, and S-E was able to run out the final 10 seconds of the clock after Lilly Berg grabbed an offensive rebound of a missed Irwin free throw.
Berg led S-E in the fourth quarter scoring eight points, and had a team-high 13. Irwin scored 12 and Mikayla Solloway added 11.
“We had some foul trouble in the first half, but we fought through that,” said S-E coach Karen Mulligan. “We didn’t rebound well, but we got a couple at the end when we really needed them.”
The Marauders host Clinton on Friday.

NEW BERLIN – Caleb Simons won by pin for Unadilla Valley, and Kurtis Wilson (195) and Alex Avolio (220) received forfeits in the Storm’s dual meet loss to Walton Monday.
Simons (120) picked up a pin of the Warriors’ Tabor Van Valkenburg in 1:44 for the lone UV win that occurred on the mat.
Unadilla Valley hosts Greene today.

NORWICH – Windsor took all but one point in a 4-1 victory over the Norwich boys, while the Black Knights’ girls earned a 5-0 shutout.
Corey Huggins led Norwich with a 288 game, and Dylan Gladstone added a 200.
Jacasa Currie’s 180 led the Tornado girls.

Meanwhile, the Marauders’ boys battled tough lane conditions to improve to 9-0 on the season.
Jonny Sulton’s 561 series led S-E (9-0). “The boys had to fight for everything they got tonight,” said Marauders coach Don Philhower. “They worked hard to get this win and stay undefeated.
