Danielson indicted for murder
NORWICH – William H. Danielson, 48, Oxford, was indicted by a Chenango County Grand Jury on Wednesday. Danielson faces felony offenses in relation to the death of Lucinda Knoll in Decemeber.
At a grand jury proceeding, the Chenango County District Attorney presents evidence against those they desire to prosecute and the jury decides – based upon the evidence – if there is enough reasonable cause to charge the individual with a felony offense.
Danielson was indicted on numerous charges, including two counts of murder in the second degree, a class A-1 violent felony; robbery in the first degree, a class B felony; assault in the first degree, a class B felony; and assault in the second degree, a class D felony.
It is alleged, per the indictment, that on Dec. 27, 2013 at approximately 6:30 a.m., Danielson intentionally caused Knoll’s death by striking her in the head numerous times.
Danielson allegedly forcibly stole property from Knoll and during the commission of the robbery, caused her serious injury that ultimately led to her death.
On Dec. 29, Danielson was arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court and was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility without bail.
Said Chenango County District Attorney Joe McBride, “He is facing two counts of murder in the second degree. We expect his arraignment in county court to be either next week or the week after. It is my understanding defense counsel is out of town.”
Murder in the second degree is punishable by up to 25 years in state prison, added McBride.
