FENTON – For the fifth time this season, Norwich bounced back from a close loss.
The Tornado (9-5) dominated the second half led by senior Jennifer Borfitz in beating the Warriors for the second time this season on Friday.
CV’s Chelsea Henige hit a three at the halftime buzzer to give her team a three-point lead. From there, it was all NHS. “We made some defensive adjustments in the second half, and the girls implemented them perfectly,” said Norwich coach Josh Bennett. “Plus, we wore them down a bit in the second half.”
Borfitz was limited to free throws in the first half, but cashed in on all five of her field goals in the third scoring 12 of Norwich’s 17 points to flip the momentum in the Tornado’s favor. Borfitz finished with a game-high 20 points.
Megan Komendarek scored in every quarter for Norwich adding 10 points, and Shelby Benjamin added eight.

Sherburne-Earlville 54, Central Valley Academy 49
ILION – Winners by 40 points over CVA earlier this season, S-E needed a three from Jordan van Althuis and two free throws from Stacia Beckwith in the last two minutes to secure the victory Friday.
The unbeaten Marauders (15-0) were without their top three-point shooters, Savannah Irwin and Mattie Dowdall, and that duo also serves as a big component in the Marauders’ pressbreaker. “We had some kids in different postions, and we turned it over more (against their press) than we normally would have,” said S-E coach Karen Mulligan. “Teams playing you a second time, they know you better and what to take away. We knew it would be a harder game tonight.”
Bridgette McDaniel scored a season-high 15 points to lead S-E, Lilly Berg had 14, and van Althuis 13. S-E plays at Canastota Friday.

BAINBRIDGE – After B-G pulled within two points heading to the fourth, Sidney was able to stretch the lead back to double digits getting putback baskets from Connor Decker, Bethany Karl, and Jenna McDonald in Friday’s road victory.
The Bobcats trailed by 10 in the first quarter, but rallied back to take a 25-24 lead midway through the third. Jolene Krom hit a three for Sidney to recapture the lead, and Kelsey Decker pumped in another trey at the end of the quarter to maintain the edge.
“I felt the end of the third quarter was a real turning point for Sidney,” said B-G coach Bob Conway. “We really had way too many turnovers in the game, and didn’t do a good job of boxing out on the defensive boards.”
Abbey Smith had 14 points for B-G (9-5) in the loss, and Morgan Bullis added 11. Both teams shot less than 50 percent from the foul line for the game.
