S-E polishes off another perfect league season
ROME – Sherburne-Earlville’s boys completed another perfect league season last weekend at King Pin Lanes in Rome.
Coming off another unbeaten regular season, the Marauders backed that up with their fourth straight Center State Conference league tournament title topping the ten-ten field.
Four S-E bowlers had four 600-plus series’ in accumulating a 2,990 pin total, 233 pins clear of runner-up Central Valley Academy, and nearly 350 pins ahead of third-place Little Falls.
William Philhower had a high game of 237 on his way to a team-high 622 series, Zach Miles also had a 237 game, Jonny Sulton tossed a 244 game en route to a 606 triple, and Doug Urben finished with a 605 series.
Following the tournament, the CSC handed out team and individual awards with S-E awarded seven conference championships on the heels of a second straight unbeaten season. Zach Miles was awarded a trophy for high individual series (711), Philhower posted the high season average (193), and S-E had three league all-stars in Philhower, Urben, and Sulton. Jordan Mullen, Miles, and Tyler Coughlin earned honorable mention status.
The Section III tournament is scheduled Feb. 25, and Philhower will continue his season as a Section III team member in the state tournament in Long Island Feb. 28-March 2.
