If Good Things Come To Those Whom Wait, What Of Those That Rush?
A sure sign of an ignorant and untrustworthy leader is rushed policy. Backdoor politics seems to be the way of the future, especially when it comes to the issue of our second amendment rights.
I don't claim to be an expert on politics, nor do I choose to involve myself in the lifestyle. A country bumpkin like myself has no place in the world of smoke and mirrors. What role could a bunch of hillbillies, like myself, play in this wild world of idiocrasy? Surely a bunch of gun toting, tobacco spitting, God loving people play no role in the protection of a free state. A group like that is easily steamrolled by policy and duped by political types with superior intelligence. That's what the socialist leaders of our state and country would like to believe. The fact is, to us rednecks, Them there is fightin’ words! I've yet to find a single gun owner that doesn't feel the same. This is our opinion not just my opinion.
We live in New York, which is known as the Empire State. We bumpkins recognize it as the “subjugated state.” With a dictator such as Cuomo at the helm, what do you expect us to see? I understand that it is surprising to such intelligent leaders, that us dummies are able to see through the lies. It seems pretty ironic, that many of the country boys I know, can recite the second amendment. Yet our congressmen, seems to have lost his copy, or never read it in the first place. What part of “shall not be infringed” do you not get? It's crazy that people get caught up in the interpretation of old world language and use it as an argument.
Most would agree, that as time passes, many things change. Language being one of them, and the arms carried another. It's obvious, our forefathers, in the writing of the constitution, were referring to the relevant military weapons of the time. When they stated that a militia was necessary to the protection of the free state, they could never have envisioned the changes in weaponry. This line in the second amendment was directed at a government that would choose to take the power from the people. It's easy to understand, even for a hick from the sticks like myself. They were referring to the people having access to all arms that our government or military would possess. This would give the people the ability to protect themselves from tyrannical dictators.
The Safe Act is a direct and complete infringement of our second amendment rights. To limit the people's ability to have equal firepower, in comparison to a possible invading force, was the intention of this infringing act. The reason that Japan didn't invade us during the Second World War, was because they knew how armed the American people were. To weaken the peoples ability to defend themselves, either from a tyrannical government or an invading force is one in the same. You, at that point, have become a subject. When you are our puppet, Mr. Cuomo, how the heck were you able to sneak such an infringing and flawed act into effect.
What I recognize is that the power of the people is slipping into the hands of officials. They are not here to tell us what to do, but rather do what they are told. To remove the power from the people, means the people are unable to defend themselves from additional infringements. This translates into higher and more taxes, which equates to us having a smaller bank account and them having bulging pockets. Don't let yourself be fooled. This attack was more on our economic situation rather than our freedom to protect ourselves. If you can't stop someone from stealing from you than they can take as much as they want. Here is how I can see that this was an economical attack.
When Cuomo passed the act in secrecy and under the cover of darkness, he made a big mistake, which needed to be rectified. The state, in 2011, made 623 million on hunting license sales and the taxation of state sportsmen. When the act directly infringed the rights of such sportsmen, the stage was set for the state to lose a tremendous amount of revenue. All you need to know is that sportsmen compose nearly 90% of gun owners. It was said that the act would not effect sportsmen, which was an outright lie. Many had to give up or replace firearms that were considered too scary to a tyrant. When it was made clear that most sportsmen were outraged and may refuse to comply or purchase a hunting license, the state pocket book could take a big hit.
Cuomo's response was to try and befriend the outdoor community. Mr. Cuomo, know that we laugh in your face. We all have received a letter in the mail inviting us to purchase a lifetime hunting license. In return we would receive a cool license plate which reads “I Heart N.Y. Hunting.” This was a feeble attempt at gaining our trust Mr. Tater. How do you expect us to love hunting if we cant even find ammunition to hunt with? We are not fools and will not respect you in any way.
Cuomo has wiped his backside with our constitution and we should do the same to his pretty little flyer. Here's an idea, if you want to make a bunch of money for the state, quit your job and sell plates that say “I'm Glad Cuomo Quit.” They would make millions. Good wishes and don't rush into things, hasty decisions are doomed to fail.
