Former corrections officer arraigned again in county court

NORWICH – A Guilford man and former Chenango County corrections officer who was indicted in February on robbery, burglary and unlawful imprisonment charges was again indicted by a Chenango County grand jury in March on one count of intimidating a witness in the third degree, a class E felony.

35-year-old Mark A. Alemar was initially arrested by authorities on Jan. 19, 2014, following an investigation into a home invasion that occurred late last year on Bradley Hill Road in the Town of Oxford.

It is alleged that Alemar – in concert with others – unlawfully entered and remained in a residence on Dec. 30, 2013, and then did forcibly steal a cell phone by having the victim lay on the floor while a gun was pointed at her.

Alemar was allegedly armed with a handgun, taser, and a stick during the altercation.

Three other codefendants were charged in connection with crime, and are currently being held at the Chenango County Correctional Facility.
