NORWICH - Norwich's veteran lineup overcame difficult playing conditions and a game opponent to win its second straight match this season, Wednesday at Norwich High School.
Colin Stewart won at second singles blanking the Yellowjackets' Aaron Earle-Richardson, 6-0, 6-0, and Matt Craig toppled Jonah Herold in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. First singles player, Zan Stewart, was impressive for the Purple Tornado in defeat losing to NCAA Division I signee, Emerson Kelby, 6-4, 6-3.
"Certainly Colin played really well, and even Zan was in every game with Kelby," said Norwich coach John Stewart. "Kelby is a kid who has been around since seventh grade, and that was the most games Zan has ever taken from him."
Norwich put the match away with a sweep of the three doubles matches. Brendon Budd-Alec Weaver; Carlos Ithier-Cameron Edwards; and Jordan Vinal-Andy Evans all won in straight sets at first, second, and third doubles respectively.
"The doubles teams showed up and won decisively across the board," John Stewart said. "I was quite happy with the doubles play today."
