Common Council approves new police vehicle
NORWICH – The Norwich City Common Council has approved purchase of a new police vehicle for the city police department.
Council members recently authorized transfer of $31,100 from sewer equipment capital reserves to the city police budget for purchase of the new vehicle.
Because security requirements of the city's water and wastewater facilities necessitate police department patrol and surveillance, city officials said associated equipment costs of the police department should be appropriately shared among water system funds and general funds.
Funds transferred will cover costs for a 2014 model vehicle and related police equipment to be installed.
