Monday Evening Musical Club presents annual recital

NORWICH – The Monday Evening Musical Club is setting the stage for its annual recital, set to take place at 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 19, at the United Church of Christ in Norwich.

For 104 years, the Monday Musical Club has been a venue for aspiring students to develop their love of music into a longlasting career. Each year, the organization presents concerts for the community and provides scholarships to gifted young artists who wish to pursue music in college.

The recital is open to the public and donations will go directly toward annual scholarships provided by the Monday Evening Musical Club.

The event will begin with a noteworthy performance by Kaitlyn Jackson, a 10th grade student from Norwich High School who recently garnered national attention as a contestant on the televised singing competition “American Idol.”

The recipient of the Monday Evening Music Club Private Lessons Scholarship, Colin Bussin, a ninth grader from Norwich, will be the start of a series of piano performances. Bussin will perform his renditions of “Arabesque” and “The Chase” by Friedrich Burgmüller.
