Scholarship to support law students

CHENANGO COUNTY – The Chenango Bar Association is accepting applications for the Chenango County Bar Association Scholarship with a deadline of Aug. 1. The scholarship is available to residents of Chenango County who are currently attending law school and are in good academic standing.
“We established the scholarship fund to demonstrate community interest on part of the bar association and to provide assistance to any law school student,” said attorney James Cushman. He explained that the scholarship was also created to support future lawyers who plan to practice law in Chenango County (though this is not a requirement).
There is a set amount reserved for the scholarships and after the deadline passes, Cushman will divide the funds equally among the qualified applicants.
In order to apply, applicants must be currently enrolled in law school and submit transcripts from the prior year and a cover letter to James Cushman at 15 Eaton Ave., Norwich, NY. Applications can also be sent to Claudette Newman in care of the Chenango County Supreme Court, Court Street, Norwich, NY. For more information, call 334-2562.
