Sherburne Arts & Crafts Family Festival this weekend
SHERBURNE – The Arts & Crafts Family Festival is scheduled from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. this Saturday, June 14 at Gaines Park in Sherburne (near the library). The event is free and open to the public.
This is the third year that it has been hosted by the Sherburne Public Library and promises to be a fun, family friendly event with work on display by great artists and crafters. There will be rain-proof tents, live music and interactive activities for children. Approximately 200 artists from across the state have been invited to participate, and attendees should expect to see a range of art from pottery and fine art to handmade soaps, dolls, etcetera. Kathleen Yasas, Committee Chair, explained that there will be a $100 People's Choice Artist Prize, $100 People's Choice Crafter Prize, a gift basket ticket auction, two raffles, as well as food available. There will also be a special exhibit by local school students.
As a capstone to the event, Charles Sussman's artwork will be on display. He is this year's honoree and his artwork is well acclaimed. Sussman was born in Germany in 1898, and grew up in New York State.
